Our servicing school areas include Brambleton,  Eagle Ridge, Mercer, Lunsford, and Stone Hill Middle Schools; Arcola, Pinebrook, Buffalo Trail, Aldie, Legacy, Cardinal Ridge, Little River, Hutchison, Liberty, Legacy, Creighton's Corner, and Rosa Lee Carter Elementary; and Briar Woods, Rock Ridge, Freedom, and John Champe High Schools.

Middle School Softball Tryouts

Tryouts for the Spring 2021 Middle School Softball Program will be held in February 2021.  Please see below for the Middle Schools DYS represents and register for tryouts HERE or register.dullesyouth.com

More information to follow as dates and times are finalized by each league. Please register early so that we may better be able to work through some of the restrictions around COVID.  The 2021 Middle School game schedule is TBD. We hope to start after spring break and play through Memorial Day.

Why a Middle School Softball Program?
While Loudoun County has a number of recreation, travel, and high school softball programs providing opportunities for female athletes, we didn’t have a middle school program like those in neighboring counties and the boys’ baseball program currently in place in Loudoun. Additionally, youth sports organizations sponsor other middle school programs (basketball, volleyball, wrestling, etc.).

What Leagues/Schools are participating in the Program?
Ashburn Girls Softball League (AGSL)  www.AGSL.org
** Belmont Ridge, Eagle Ridge, Farmwell Station, Trailside
Dulles Youth Sports (DYS)  www.dullesyouth.com
** Brambleton, Lunsford, Mercer, Stone Hill, Willard
Leesburg Girls Softball League (LGSL)  www.leesburggirlssoftball.org
** Harper Park, Simpson, Smarts Mill
Lower Loudoun Girls Softball Leage (LLGSL) www.LLGSL.com
** River Bend, Seneca Ridge, Sterling Middle
Western Loudoun Girls Softball League (WLGSL)  www.WLGSL.org
** Blue Ridge, Harmony

What is the benefit of the Middle School Softball Program?
The middle school program provides young ladies at participating middle schools the opportunity to represent their school, enhance school spirit, develop camaraderie, encourage teamwork, and to further develop their softball skills while developing relationships with the girls they will play with in high school. The program will also provide an opportunity to encourage participation from the high school programs as the middle school players practice and play together before they try out for their respective high school teams.

What are the expectations of the Middle School Program?
This is to be a competitive league. Most of the players are expected to have extensive playing experience. The coaches will expect players to be highly motivated to play. Lineups will have strict limitations, unlike house leagues, there is no full roster batting. Due to the competitive nature of this league expect teams to have as many as 14 or 15 rostered players, (Note this will diminish playing time for some.) It is conceivable that we may have to consolidate schools should we not get enough players from each school individually. Teams will be encouraged to make sure players get playing time, however there are no guaranteed playing time minimums and this is not a development program. Rosters will be staffed to accommodate different skills levels and potential schedule conflicts.

Additional information can be found on the league websites listed above.

Hello Families!

It has been a year, hasn’t it? We all felt the disruption with COVID-19 and having the 2020 season end before it even began. We are working hard to bring back Volleyball to your lives and are excited to announce that House registration is officially open (links below).

We ask for your flexibility and understanding of these crazy times, but we would like to welcome you back to Volleyball and look forward to having our players back in the gym and giving some normalcy.

This year we will not be creating a High School team. We will still have our Middle School HEAT program, and the requirements for that program remain the same (you must participate in the house program, and tryouts are required; not everyone will be selected).

Surprise… in case you did not know, we need coaches! We will have clinics again this year, which will be announced once we have the dates defined.

3rd & 4th Grade Registration for House http://assn.la/Reg/?r=3:209338

5th & 6th Grade Registration for House http://assn.la/Reg/?r=3:209294

7th & 8th Grade Registration for House http://assn.la/Reg/?r=3:209339

7th & 8th Grade Registration for HEAT http://assn.la/Reg/?r=3:209340 (MUST be registered for 7/8th grade volleyball)

There are still a lot of unknowns, and we do understand that. We are working through the season's logistics, how many teams, practice locations, and even the evaluation dates. Safety is paramount in everything we do. Concerning COVID19 guidelines, we follow the requirements of the State of Virginia as well as Loudoun County. We must abide by the prescribed COVID 19 regulations to participate. Therefore, we will require health screening as well as temperature checks at practice and games. Please keep in mind the COVID19 guidelines are subject to change, therefore we ask for your patience as we continue to navigate these waters.

Thank you for being apart of our volleyball family and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon!

As always for questions reach out to

 Charity Kerwin

Assistant Commissioner DYS Volleyball, House Director

If you recevie this message multiple times, we do appologize it is never our intention for you to receive it more than once.
