Meet our Dulles Youth Track Coach - Coach Darnerien McCants

Coach McCants is a highly disciplined, motivated, enthusiastic, energetic teacher/coach/mentor who inspires everyone to be great. He has proven guidance, teaching and counseling skills, from helping multiple student-athletes attain their sought-after scholarship dreams. He is a team player able to resolve conflicts and problems with solutions. Also, Coach communicates information and delivers the message in an entertaining manner to all our young athletes. Coach looks to contribute his knowledge and unique life experiences and education to the athlete while building a great program.

Coach McCants, Washington Redskins 2001 5th round draft choice, a star athlete from Delaware State University. In 2003 he led the Washington football team in touchdown receptions, a continuation of his 18 touchdown receptions in college. One of coaches greater accomplishments was the establishment of the Darnerien McCants Endowment and donated over fifty-thousand dollars of equipment to his alma mater.

The Washingtonian Award, Walter Payton Award, Kids Choice Award, Hero's Award, are a few awards he received for outstanding community service. The year he played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Coach McCants helped raise over 3000 coats and jackets for the Salvation Army for the displaced New Orleans Hurricane Katrina victims.

Music, fashion, photography all are passions of his. After selling over 100 pieces of artwork and releasing two CDs “My first 7” and “A Piece of Me", he felt something was still missing in his life. The team camaraderie, so he began coaching football, basketball, and track, at the youth and high school levels.

Unbeknownst to him, McCants was onto his second career. He started personal training at Golds gym. Shortly after he would journey off to start his own company Coach McCants Sports and Fitness LLC. Coach McCants now has been training, coaching, and mentoring young athletes for the last decade. 

Coach McCants know resides in the Washington DC metro area, married to his college sweetheart, and they have two magnificent children.
